Sporting Nebraska Named 2021 Sporting Club Network Member of the Year
We’re excited to announce that Sporting Nebraska is the 2021 Sporting Club Network Member of the Year, presented by Price Chopper.
Based in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska, Sporting Nebraska provides opportunities for young players, 4-19 years old to become involved with soccer at all levels of play. These opportunities include both recreational and competitive soccer, focusing on player and personal development.
“2020 was a remarkable year for Sporting Nebraska. Their accomplishments on the field and amazing work within the community are a reflection of their tremendous coaches, staff, volunteers and players”, said Dan Popik, Sporting KC Vice President of Youth Business Development. “Congratulations to Sporting Nebraska on being recognized as the 2021 Sporting Club Network Member of the Year!”
In the summer of 2021, Sporting Nebraska rebranded from Sporting Omaha after merging with Capital Soccer Association in Lincoln, Nebraska. This merger has allowed Sporting Nebraska to bring their resources to additional players, coaches and families.
This year, Sporting Nebraska also found success on the field. In November, Sporting Nebraska had five teams win their State Cup divisions. These teams will move on to represent Sporting Nebraska at the US Youth Soccer Regionals.
“It’s an honor to receive this prestigious award from Sporting KC”, said Christina Lewis, Sporting Nebraska’s Youth Director. “Our coaching staff works tirelessly to provide quality training opportunities for players across the state. As a Sporting KC Affiliate, we have access to coaching education and player development assets which set us apart from any other Nebraska club.”
With over 2,000 players, Sporting Nebraska’s players benefit from some of the best coaches in the state. Players also have access to training programs and camps with Sporting Kansas City, along with national competition platforms such as ECNL and NPL.
Sporting Nebraska became a Sporting KC Academy Affiliate in July of 2013 and has been a vital member of the network since.

It has been exciting to be a part of their process of growth both on and off the field”, said Nathan Hunt, Sporting KC Academy Affiliate Director of Coaching. “We look forward to working with Sporting Nebraska to further their mission and overall goals as an organization!”
