2022 Fall Academy Affiliate Recap
The Fall 2022 season was a busy one for all of our Academy Affiliate players and staff! Over the course of four months, our clubs participated in the annual Academy Affiliate Director’s Summit, Observation Day and All-Star Weekend, in addition to numerous fall leagues and tournaments all over the country.
Read below for a brief recap of some of our fall programs, and keep an eye out for what’s to come in 2023!
Fall All-Star Weekend
The Fall 2022 Academy Affiliate All-Star Weekend took place the weekend of September 16 – 18 at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. Invited by club coaches and coaching directors, All-Stars participated in training sessions with SKC Academy Coach Christian Duke and SKCII Goalkeeper Coach Darrin MacLeod, competed in a 4v4 tournament and showcased their skills in a full-sided scrimmage.
Sporting Development League
The Fall 2022 season of Sporting Development League kicked off on August 20, and culminated in SDL Championship Weekend at Central Bank Sporting Complex on November 12 & 13.
This season featured 24 boys teams across the U12, U13 & U14 age brackets.

Fall Coaches’ Observation Day
This season’s Observation Day for Academy Affiliate coaches was held on Tuesday, September 27 at Compass Minerals National Performance Center in Kansas City.
The 30+ participating coaches were able to observe Sporting KC First Team, SKCII and Sporting KC Academy training sessions, in addition to a Q&A with First Team Head Coach Peter Vermes and a classroom session with Assistant Kerry Zavagnin.
