August Academy Affiliate Club Spotlight: Sporting Oklahoma
CLUB BIO
Sporting Oklahoma joined as an Academy Affiliate in 2020. Located in the Oklahoma City metro area, Sporting Oklahoma aims to provide a positive, safe and professional environment for players, coaches and parents.
Sporting Oklahoma features quality programs, facilities, staff, education and leadership for youth players of all ages and abilities. The club’s commitment to player development encourages personal growth and prepares players for the next level of competition.
Sporting Oklahoma strives to be the state’s leading soccer club, known for its strong association with the community and tradition for developing young talent.
CLUB RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Added 13 Competitive Program teams, growing from 11 in 2020 to 24 current teams
- 12 Academy teams (U7-U10) set to compete during 2021-22 season
- Coaching staff has expanded from 6 coaches during inaugural season to 19 coaches in second season
- 8 out of 12 teams qualified to compete in the US Youth Soccer Frontier Conference for 2021-22 season
COACH SPOTLIGHT
Joseph “Flash” Carter
Coach, Boys 06 & Girls 07
Flash is a young coach who has shown ability beyond his years. Originally from England, Flash moved to the U.S. to play for Mid-America Christian University (MACU).
After graduation, Flash joined Sporting Oklahoma and works with the Boys 06 and Girls 07 teams. The Girls 07 team, in particular, has improved massively and we’re excited to see them continue to grow under Flash’s leadership.
Flash is currently working towards his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) qualifications.
Bekah LeCaze
Coach, 08 Girls, 06 Girls
Bekah is one of our young and talented coaches. She played NCAA Division 1 soccer at Oral Roberts University and prior to that, Bekah played with Sporting Blue Valley, winning the Kansas State Cup.
Bekah was also selected 5 times to the Olympic Development Program and was a National Futsal Selection player.
Her past playing experience is a huge asset to help inspire and push the girls program forward and to help create a pathway for the girls to compete at a higher level.
Bekah is currently working towards her USSF and UEFA qualifications.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
Bostyn Carroll
04 Boys
Bostyn’s big personality and big hair are a true staple of his soccer ability. His joy on and off the field is something every player should strive to have. Bostyn pushes for greatness every day and his commitment to his team and school is unmatched.
Bostyn was named Norman High School Offensive Player of the Year and led his school with the most assists and 2nd most goals scored.
If he isn’t playing soccer, Bostyn is playing football, basketball and running track. He’s a true competitor in all he does!
Caroline Heaslet
2010 Girls
Caroline is coming off a great year playing for the 2010 Girls and guest playing for 2009 Girls where she led the team in goals scored.
Recently, Caroline has been competing in the Futsal National and Worlds in Orlando, FL. During the competition, she played up a year, finishing 1st in the Copper Division and 3rd in the Silver Division of Worlds.
Caroline’s ambition is to attend the Air Force or Space Academy to become a robotics engineer and eventually become an astronaut.
Her drive to serve others, push the boundaries and compete makes her a great teammate to all!
