Sporting Iowa Named 2020 Sporting Club Network Member of the Year
Congratulations to Sporting Iowa, which has been named the 2020 Sporting Club Network (SCN) Member of the Year, presented by Price Chopper.
Over the course of 2020, Sporting Iowa has experienced astounding achievements including high performances on the field, selection for participation in new player development platforms and overall club growth. On the field, Sporting Iowa produced five Iowa State Cup champions and two USYS Iowa President’s Cup champions this fall. With the accumulation of various on-field recognitions, Sporting Iowa became the only club in the state to be accepted into the ECNL Girls Regional League this year. Additionally, Sporting Iowa was selected to participate in Sporting KC Youth Soccer’s new player development platform featuring SKC Academy and Academy Affiliate clubs from across the region, the Sporting Development League. Along with these accomplishments throughout the year, the club was dedicated to growing its player pool and expanded the club’s age groups from U15-U19 to U11-U19.
“We are extremely proud and honored to be named as SCN member of the year,” said John Sheridan, Sporting Iowa Executive Director. “Having such a great support system from Sporting KC has enabled us to move our club along positively on multiple fronts. We are excited for what the future may bring for our club and look forward to continuing our wonderful relationship with Sporting KC.”
Sporting KC Academy Affiliate Director of Coaching, Nathan Hunt, also congratulated Sporting Iowa on the award. “Congratulations to Sporting Iowa for winning this year’s SCN Member of the Year! The time, effort, hard work and dedication that Sporting Iowa and club leadership have put into the last year has put them in a position to be successful now and for years to come. We look forward to seeing the continued progress of Sporting Iowa.”
