Sporting KC Introduces 5v5 Fest Benefitting The Victory Project

Sporting Kansas City announced today that the club will host the first-ever Sporting KC 5v5 Fest, a one-day tournament experience for families in and around Kansas City benefitting The Victory Project.

Sporting KC 5v5 Fest will take place on May 27, 2023, at the world-class Central Bank Sporting Complex in Kansas City, Missouri, and is open to recreational players in first and second grade and competitive players at the U8-U13 levels.

“Sporting KC Youth Soccer is thrilled to launch Sporting KC 5v5 Fest benefitting The Victory Project,” said Dan Popik, Sporting KC Vice President of Youth Sports Properties. “This new event will provide a fun, small-sided soccer experience for the participating teams, while also supporting communities in need with access and opportunities to play the game.”

All proceeds from the tournament will support The Victory Project’s Soccer Assist Grant program.

The Soccer Assist Grant provides individuals, clubs and organizations with the funding needed to participate in soccer. Grant funding can be used toward a wide range of eligible expenses, including club, league and tournament fees, as well as uniforms, equipment and transportation.

Additionally, tournament participants will have the opportunity to donate new or gently used soccer equipment through the Recycle Your Game initiative. Donated equipment will be distributed by The Victory Project to organizations within the community.

“The Victory Project is excited to partner with Sporting KC Youth to help fund our grant program,” said Chioma Atanmo, Sporting Kansas City Director of Community Impact. “In 2022, we launched our Soccer Assist Grant to help kids with limited financial resources get access to the game. The proceeds from the Sporting KC 5v5 Fest and the donations collected through the Recycle Your Game program will help us continue to fill this need in our community.”

Sporting KC 5v5 Fest teams can have a maximum of 11 players per team with four field players and one goalkeeper on the pitch at a time. Each team will compete in three matches during the one-day event.
