September Academy Affiliate Club Spotlight: Sporting Springfield

CLUB BIO

Sporting Springfield offers programing for players as young as 3 all the way up through high school seniors located in Springfield, MO with a population of 168,000 (metro 462,000). The club now has a connection with the NPSL level for those high school players that demonstrate a drive and success while also providing our collegiate players a more viable training program during the summer months. Additionally, the club has donated nearly $100,000 to local charities of all varieties; they love being part of the community and helping young people realize the impact they can have on their community to help improve it for everyone for years to come. Sporting Springfield is in their 6th year of being a SKC Academy Affiliate club and looking forward to more!

RECENT CLUB ACCOMPLISHMENTS

As a club, off the field, Sporting Springfield has had 1 player graduate from the US Military Academy at West Point, 2 players receive US Military ROTC collegiate scholarships, 1 National Debate Champion, numerous Valedictorians, Salutatorians, Class Presidents, and so much more. On the field, the club has won 7 MYSA State Championships, 4 MYSA Presidents Cup Championships, 1 Midwest Regional Championship, 1 US Club u23 Co-National Championship, 1 USL player (Parker Maher – Swope Park Rangers/StL FC), 2 players (Boy & Girl) into US Youth National Team camps, 2 players into ODP National Team (Girls), and both boys & girls into all levels of collegiate soccer programs.

COACH SPOTLIGHT

LOGAN FAVREAU
2012 & 2007 Boys Coach

Logan has volunteered for 2 years while playing full time at Drury University.  He trains 6am with Drury, attends school during the day then spends his extra time sharing his love and passion of the game with the Sporting Springfield kids. Additionally, Logan recently completed an internship with Sporting Kansas City and gained more experience coaching with SKC Youth Soccer staff at camps and clinics over the summer.

KAYLEIGH PUTNAM
2009 – 2004 Girls Coach

Kayleigh Putnam as a young female coach who is helping out with 5 teams right now ranging from 2009 to 2004 while also working on her Master’s Degree from Missouri State University.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

JACKSON HARBAUGH
2007 Boys Player

Jackson has been a great example of our Core Values in recent weeks but a standard of them over time. Club First- He is always willing to get in an extra time helping any team that needs a player. Work Ethic- Jackson has been attending four training sessions a week to push himself to higher levels. Winning Mentality- If you asked his teammates there would be zero doubt that Jackson wants to compete and push to be the best version of himself. Growth Mindset- Jackson is always finding ways to challenge himself on and off the field so he can continue to push himself to new heights within the game of soccer.

PEYTON WISEMAN
Girls Player

Peyton Wiseman who has played halves of two different games out of position by being our GK. She only allowed one goal while helping her team win two games! Great example of our Core Values (Club First, Work Ethic, Winning Mentality, Growth Mindset).
