July Academy Affiliate Club Spotlight: Sporting Missouri Valley

CLUB BIO

Sporting Missouri Valley became a Sporting KC Academy Affiliate in the Spring of 2018. That first year the club had two parts; Sporting MV North and Sporting MV. In 2019, the two sides merged into one as Sporting MV. The club uses Z-Sports in Greenwood, Missouri as its corporate home.  Z-Sports is where the club offices are and includes 3 indoor fields and 4 outdoor fields for its members to use.

As an Academy Affiliate, Sporting MV introduces the game of soccer to youth of all skill levels. They provide the opportunity for each player to develop to their highest potential and to provide the best product and service for all members. In a short time as an affiliate, Sporting MV has already made an impact as 6 players have accepted positions with the SKC Academy. Sporting MV’s goal is to become a club of choice for both boys and girls players in the area while emphasizing the message that life lessons can be taught through the sport of soccer.

With 50 premier teams, Sporting MV continues to grow with a goal of developing coaches first and players second. With ongoing coaching education, Sporting MV’s goal is to create the best youth coaching staff in the region. By investing in its coaches, Sporting MV insures that player development will continue to occur at the highest level.

To help provide a development pathway for all players, Sporting MV has fostered relationships with fellow affiliates Sporting Brookside and Sporting Lee’s Summit. With thousands of recreational players in each club, Sporting MV provides programming that helps develop both recreational players and coaches. This insures that both Sporting Brookside and Sporting Lee’s Summit continue to offer recreational programming at the highest level and provides a pathway for those interested in the premier side of the game. In addition, Sporting MV is kicking off the SMV Soccer School which will provide pre-competitive programming for players from U5-U9.

RECENT CLUB ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Sporting Missouri Valley were proud to see some of their players selected for the Sporting KC Academy over the summer. Three 2009 players were selected to join the SKC Academy U12 team: Jack Francka, Alex Gemienhardt, and Talyn Gates. Additionally, one of SMV 2008 goalies, Robby Schleichardt, was selected to join the SKC Academy U13 team on a part-time basis.

“All of these players worked really hard over the last few years to reach their goals, and we are really pleased for them. Its hard to see them go, but we are here to support our players in achieving their goals and its great to know that SMV played a role in that.”  – Chris Dean, SMV Director of Coaching
